Hubbard Memorial Library Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is a publicly elected board consisting of three members on rotating three year terms. The Board of Trustees make general operating and administrative policies for the library. The Board establishes, reviews, and updates Trustee bylaws and library policies annually or as needed. Trustees hire, support, and evaluate the director. Board members are informed about, advocate for, and represent the library and its services in the community and participate in strategic planning. Trustees support basic library tenets such as: Intellectual Freedom, Freedom to Read, Confidentiality of Patron Records, and the Library Bill of Rights. Trustees participate in library related workshops and activities by Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and other library professional organizations. Trustees are aware of local, state and federal library laws and issues, taking action when appropriate, and contact local and state elected officials as needed. Board members do not receive financial compensation for their service.
