Hands-on art and art history for homeschoolers!
This program for 8-11 year olds will meet outdoors on the library lawn (the library has folding tables, outdoor chairs, and 2 canopy tents). Youth Services Librarian July will read a short biography or other related book about the artist or style we'll be learning about, show a brief video, or share books or prints of the artist's work. Kids will then have a chance to make art in that style.
-Some themes & activities:
Georges Seurat/Pointillism, Q-tip pointillist pictures
Nature artist Andy Goldsworthy, outdoor pieces with objects found in nature
Collage art of Henri Matisse and Eric Carle, ripped or cut paper collages
Proto-Expressionism/Edvard Munch's The Scream, finger painting
Abstract expressionist action art, splatter paintings
Color Field painting/Helen Frankenthaler & Mark Roethko, abstract watercolor painting
Space is limited, registration is required; please click below to register. Cancels for bad weather.
