Banned Book Bundles!

Stand up to censorship!

You'd be amazed at some of the classic, popular, awesome books that have been the subject of censorship attempts! The reasons why are varied, but the result is the same; holes in the cultural and international education of our children, restriction of children's ability to grow and learn, and narrowed worldviews that plant the seeds of bigotry, with the implication being that anyone who believes differently from them must be foolish, immoral, or misinformed (source here).

Fight censorship! Click below to reserve a bundle of 5 picture books or 3 chapter books (tailored to your child's age) that you can pick up from our curbside service or when visiting the library.  You can also ask for more or fewer books or for books for multiple age ranges!

Want more info? Check out this short article from the Washington Post about why your kid should read banned books, or this page from the American Library Association about Banned Books Week 2021.

Jungle Jim's "Tales from the Balloon" Magic Show!

10:30am - 11:15am

Live show on the library lawn!

Jungle Jim is proud to announce his newest program, “Tales from the Balloon.” This 45-minute extravaganza will feature interactive storytelling, silly magic, and of course, Jim climbing inside of a giant 6-foot balloon! This program will take place in-person on the library lawn, with a virtual option via Zoom at the same time. Bring camp chairs or a blanket to sit on!

This program is free and open to the public, and sponsored by the Ludlow Cultural Council.

We plan to have this program take place outside on the library lawn, but if the weather is poor it will take place inside the library.
