Outdoor/indoor preschool storytime: Big, Bigger, Biggest

10:30am - 11:00am

This spring's storytime theme is “Big, Bigger, Biggest!” a ten-week session about elephants, dinosaurs, whales, and other really large animals.

Each storytime includes about 30 minutes of stories, finger-plays, songs and games related to that week’s theme, and meets on the lawn, weather permitting. We'll move indoors during bad weather (space is limited and masks are strongly requested for indoor programs).

Registration is required so you can get email updates about whether the program is happening inside or outside, & because space is limited when inside; please click below to register.

PLEASE NOTE: You will be registering for the entire series, and do not need to re-register each week.

True Tales! Stories about real people & events for 5-8 year olds

4:15pm - 4:45pm

At the end of a story, has your inquisitive K-2nd grader ever said to you, "Did that REALLY happen, though?" The answer is always "Yes!" during True Tales Storytime!

Join Youth Services librarian July for tales of real people who have led funny, fascinating, and inspiring lives, and events that really happened! Biographical & historical stories presented in picture book form are the hot new genre, and we’ll laugh and get inspired, entertained, & maybe even educated (shhh!)!

January 5th: Daring Adventures: The man who walked a tightrope between the Twin Towers, and the life of Zheng Yi Sao the pirate queen, the most powerful pirate in history.  
January 12th: Celebrate Martin Luther King Day: How MLK used his love of big words to fight for freedom, how ordering a donut & coffee was an act of bravery, and the story of the youngest marcher in the Freedom March.
January 19th: Girls Who Changed the World: a girl who crawled up the steps of the Capital to get rights for people with disabilities, another who went on strike from school to fight climate change, and a girl who fought for the right to go to school
January 26th: Big Bones: How an indigenous boy finding skulls in a cave led to him becoming the greatest archaeologist in Peru, & the first person to assemble a dinosaur's skeleton and introduce them to the world. 

The storytime will run 30 minutes and take place in the library's Program Room, where a professional air filtering machine will be running; masks are required. Registration is required and is limited to 10 families to allow for safe spacing. The program will also be available simultaneously through Zoom each week. Please click below to register.
