Banned Book Bundles for kids!

Stand up to censorship!

You'd be amazed at some of the classic, popular, awesome books that have been the subject of censorship attempts! The reasons why are varied, but the result is the same; holes in the cultural and international education of our children, restriction of children's ability to grow and learn, and narrowed worldviews that plant the seeds of bigotry, with the implication being that anyone who believes differently from them must be foolish, immoral, or misinformed (source here).

Fight censorship! Click below to reserve a bundle of 5 picture books (tailored to your child's age).  You can also ask for more or fewer books or for books for multiple age ranges!

Want more info? Check out this short article from the Washington Post about why your kid should read banned books, or this page from the American Library Association about Banned Books Week 2022.

Anime Club

3:30pm - 5:00pm

Anime at the Library!

A club for middle & high schoolers who are fans of anime & manga - or want to be!

The first week of each month is devoted to classic anime, which is good for tweens and teens who are just getting into anime (though more experienced fans can also enjoy delving into the classics), with an anime-expert staff member on hand to introduce the selection & talk a little about why it's considered a must-see. On the second week of each month we'll have a watch party with more episodes from week one.

During the third week of each month we'll pull out some deep cuts that will appeal to seasoned fans (though beginners can enjoy them as well), with our staff expert on hand to introduce it, and on the fourth week we'll have a watch party with more episodes from the previous week.

The library will provide snacks every week, and we take requests!

Drop-ins are ok, but registration is appreciated so we know how much food to get! Please click below to register.
